Job Title: Investment Operations Analyst

Job Purpose:
This role is critical in ensuring the smooth and accurate operation of investment funds. The Investment Operations Analyst will work closely with Legg Mason and third-party providers (custodian, fund administrator, transfer agent) to monitor and manage fund administration activities, ensuring compliance and maintaining high service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fund Administration Oversight: Collaborate closely with Legg Mason for oversight of fund administration activities.
- Third-Party Provider Management: Monitor and manage service level quality of third-party providers (custodian, fund administrator, transfer agent).
- Daily & Monthly Controls: Perform necessary daily and monthly checks and controls for the mutual funds.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and distribute accounting reports for internal and external clients.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate year-end audits with Legg Mason, auditors, and the custodian.
- Client Inquiries: Address daily inquiries from internal and external clients regarding the mutual funds.
- Trade Order Management: Execute and manage trade orders on behalf of WA funds and clients.
- Reconciliations:
- Daily reconciliation of cash, futures & options, swaps, net assets, performance, etc., against the custodian, third-party administrator, or broker.
- Reconcile and process subscriptions and redemptions on the mutual funds and post other transactions daily.
- Proactively communicate with the investment management team to ensure accurate cash balances are provided in a timely manner.
- Cash Management: Review projected cash balances across multiple currencies and draft recommendations as part of the daily cash management process.
- Fund Closing: Oversee the monthly closing of fund accounting records, including final cash and NAV reconciliations, performance calculations, and any custom reporting.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, managers, and colleagues in other departments.
- Accounting Expertise: Strong accounting skills with a thorough understanding of complex fixed-income investment products.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in investment management or a related financial services role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Preferred Skills: Programming knowledge or experience with data analytics or reporting applications (e.g., Python, Alteryx, Tableau).
Education:
- Undergraduate: Any Bachelor’s Degree
- Postgraduate: MBA/PGDM in Finance
Key Skills:
- Fund Administration: In-depth knowledge of fund administration processes and procedures.
- Fund Accounting: Expertise in fund accounting principles and practices.
- Investment Products: Strong understanding of various investment products, particularly fixed-income securities.
