Job Summary:
Join JPMorgan Chase’s Risk Management and Compliance team and be at the center of keeping the firm strong and resilient. We’re looking for a skilled Software Engineer to contribute to our Model Risk Governance and Review (MRGR) team. You will develop tools and applications to automate model governance processes, build insightful dashboards, and translate business requirements into effective technology solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging, real-world problems that impact our company, customers, and communities.
About Model Risk Governance and Review (MRGR):
MRGR is a global team of modeling experts responsible for independent model validation and governance. We identify, measure, and mitigate model risk, ensuring models are fit for purpose and used appropriately. Our Chief Operating Office (COO) team supports model risk stakeholders through product ownership, process engineering, software development, reporting, and more.
About MRGR Analytics:
MRGR Analytics provides technology solutions to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of MRGR and its clients. Our solutions are primarily built within Athena (JPMC’s proprietary Python framework), Tableau, and QlikView/QlikSense.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop tools to automate model governance and review lifecycle tasks.
- Build dashboard reports to manage MRGR’s workload.
- Translate business requirements into applications using Python within the Athena framework.
- Create intelligent solutions to support MRGR staff activities.
- Emphasize data controls, testing, and user experience in solution development.
- Continuously seek user input to align development efforts with their objectives.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with significant computer programming experience.
- 2-3 years of full-stack application development experience.
- Proficiency in Python and knowledge of Tornado web framework / TypeScript / React.
- Good understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
- Strong communication skills to interact with other functional areas.
- Risk and control mindset: ability to think critically, assess user needs, and create effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Strong UI/UX design skills.
- Experience in model risk management or financial services.
