Job Description: Data Warehouse Architect

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Warehouse Architect to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data warehouse solutions that support key business decisions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and engineers to ensure data quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Warehouse Design & Architecture:
  • Define the overall architecture and structure of the data warehouse, including data models, schemas, and data integration processes.
  • Develop and implement data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema) to optimize data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
• ETL/ELT Processes:
  • Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of robust ETL/ELT processes to extract data from various sources (databases, applications, APIs), transform it to meet business requirements, and load it into the data warehouse.
• Data Integration:
  • Ensure seamless and efficient integration of data from diverse sources into the data warehouse.
• Performance Optimization:
  • Continuously monitor and optimize data warehouse performance to ensure efficient query processing, data retrieval, and overall system efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Data Quality & Assurance:
  • Implement and maintain robust data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity within the data warehouse.
• Security & Access Control:
  • Establish and maintain strong security protocols and access controls to protect sensitive data within the data warehouse, ensuring compliance with all relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Scalability & Growth:
  • Plan for the scalability of the data warehouse to accommodate future data growth and evolving business requirements.
• Documentation & Collaboration:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the data warehouse architecture, data flows, and transformation processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with business analysts, data analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data warehouse solutions.
• Vendor Evaluation & Selection:
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate data warehousing tools and technologies, including data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics), ETL/ELT tools, and BI tools.
• Disaster Recovery & Backup:
  • Implement and maintain robust disaster recovery and backup strategies to ensure business continuity and data protection.
• Data Governance:
  • Enforce data governance and data management best practices to maintain data quality, lineage, and compliance.

Must-Have Skills:

• Data Modeling: Strong expertise in developing data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema) for optimal data storage and retrieval.
• ETL/ELT Processes: Proven experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes using industry-standard tools.
• Data Integration: Deep understanding of data integration techniques and best practices.
• Performance Optimization: Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data warehouse systems.
• Data Quality: Expertise in implementing data quality checks and ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Documentation & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly document technical processes and solutions.
• Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, and HBase.
• Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Data Visualization: Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Data Warehouse Architect or a similar role.
